¿Qué es una endodoncia?

Es la eliminación del tejido pulpar (nervio) inflamado o infectado del interior de la cámara pulpar y de los conductos radiculares, rellenando estos con un material hermético y sellador para prevenir futuras complicaciones y poder así conservar su función.

Si no se realiza el tratamiento de endodoncia a tiempo, esto puede producir un fuerte dolor en la zona, incluso la aparición de fistulas (flemón).

¿Cuándo está indicado hacer una endodoncia?

Cuando existe caries profunda próxima al tejido pulpar
Cuando el diente haya sufrido un traumatismo
De forma preventiva para realizar tratamientos protésicos

¿Cómo se realiza una endodoncia?

Fundamentalmente en 2 fases:

Apertura de la cámara pulpar para acceder a los conductos radiculares, preparando y limpiando los mismos.
Relleno de los conductos con material específico, sellando herméticamente los conductos.
